Jun 30, 2011     Wine festival of Abruzzo from Zaccagnini (July 1 – 10)

When we speak of wine from Abruzzo, we typically discuss either Trebbiano or Montepulciano, don’t we? Well, the new festival will probably widen up that space, because we will also serve an autochthonous Pecorino (yes, the wine – not the cheese) and a particular clone of Cabernet. All – from the local producer Cantina Zaccagnini. Besides whites and reds you could try a mighty rose made purely from Montepulciano grape. Just in case you have heard of contemporary artist Joseph Beuys, - there is a chance you may enjoy the fact that he was residing in the tiny town Bolognano, where our festival’s wines are actually coming from. One of the Beuys’ last projects was Difesa della Natura (Nature Conservation) that he performed there with active help of local aristocrats (namely, Lucrezia De Domizio Durini).
The new special menu from Costantino is as convincing as ever: octopus and shrimps with pink tomatoes; homemade Ligurian pasta trofie with fresh vegetables; potato gnocchi with seafood sauce; risotto with cuttlefish and cep; steamed halibut fillet with green parsley sauce; stewed rabbit leg with fennels.

Our new specials includes: Pink tomatoes and zucchini salad with anchovy sauce, cold (and so most welcome) Spanish soup gazpacho, Linguine with Mozzarella and cherry tomatoes, Veal escalope in white wine sauce and Cannolo Siciliano (dessert pizzetta with Ricotta cheese, Nutella cream and chocolate drops).

The next wine festival in Pantagruel is dedicated to Sicilian and Valtellina wines. We are serving two whites from Fondo Antico (Sicilia): Versi Bianco and Grillo Parlante; and three reds from Rainoldi (Valtellina): Rosso di Valtellina, Sassella and Sfursat di Valtellina.

May 20, 2011     Wine festival of Friuli from Bidoli and Le Vigne di Zamo (May, 20 - 29)
Our new festival is dedicated to Friuli wines: two whites - Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc from Bidoli, and three reds - Merlot from Bidoli, Refosco and Ronco dei Roseti from Le Vigne di Zamo.
